I have been teaching New Testament (Koine) Greek for over a decade. I've taught both undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Cambridge, Ridley Hall Theological College, and Dallas International University. I have worked with a wide range of students – those who struggle with languages and are learning Greek for the first time, as well as masters-level students who are looking to become more fluent readers. I enjoy the classroom setting and one-to-one tutoring, and have experience teaching both online and in person. I enjoy meeting students at each ability level, and help them to identify areas of weakness or gaps in their learning so that they know how to focus their efforts moving forward. I've completed teacher training courses and have been awarded outstanding faculty member by my current university.
As for my teaching practice, I aim to provide students with a mix of deductive learning (explaining verb endings, noun forms, etc.) and plenty of in-class practice (translation practice, interactive response). I believe this helps students to build a solid foundation, and allows them to really take ownership of their learning. Interactive sessions also allow us to identify gaps in knowledge or areas of weakness so that students can progress and become more confident in their understanding of New Testament Greek.
